Today we have a new comic series from Image Comics that compelled me to pick it up on a single issue basis, which for me is usually the sign that I really like that series.
Descender is a tale One young robot’s struggle to stay alive in a universe where all androids have been outlawed and bounty hunters lurk on every planet.
The creative crew of Dustin Nguyen and Jeff Lemire are bringing a strange universe to life with unique characters and strange worlds in a way that makes me want to explore it further. The series is just getting going (the first trade paperback is conveniently now available for the holiday season!), but they have already shown a tantalizing glimpse into a universe that definitely has the potential to make for an interesting story.
The art is wonderful, and has a light, painterly, almost impressionistic style to it that creates a certain dreamy atmosphere.
One of the best new books in a while and well worth checking out.
